Staffordshire hen on nest tureen
Victorian, circa 1860. 7.9ins high, 8.9ins wide, 2.8ins depth. Staffordshire egg tureen and cover which features a hen sitting on her eggs, on an oval basketweave tureen base. White and gilt version. Dull gilt embellishment.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Condition
Hen: Generally good. No restoration.
Star hairline to hen's neck to the reverse.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: small firing pits to tail feathers;
shrinkage line along the mold join to the tail feathers.
Nest: Good. No restoration.
Wear to the rim
and foot rim.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the exterior,
rim
and interior;
staining to the interior.
