Pair Sherratt Staffordshire Pearlware 'Elijah & Widow' table base figures

pre-Victorian, circa 1830. Tallest is 11.8ins high, 4.5ins wide, 3.9ins depth. Pair of Obadiah Sherratt Staffordshire pearlware table base figures with a religious theme which feature Elijah feeding two ravens and the Widow holding a stick with her son by her side, seated on a table base. The pieces are titled, 'Elijah & Widow' to the fronts. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.







This piece represents the Biblical story of Elijah and the Widow of Zarephath. Book reference not found.

Condition

Elijah: Generally good.

A few paint losses to tree,

and sandals.



Some wear to the bocage.



RESTORATION: Raven on the perch previously remodelled.





One third of bocage remodelled.





Retouched paint losses to raven on his shoulder



and ground.







Perched raven reglued and join retouched.





The Widow: Generally good.

A few paint losses to tree,



ground,





barrel



and boy's twigs.



Some wear to the bocage.





RESTORATION. One foot of base reattached.
Filled chip to the inside of this foot also.





Twigs in her hand remodelled.
