Staffordshire hen on nest tureen
Victorian, circa 1880. 8.7ins high, 10.2ins wide, 7.7ins depth. Staffordshire egg tureen and cover which features a hen, resting on an oval basketweave tureen base.
Multi-coloured version.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Condition
CONDITION: Hen: Good.
KILN EFFECTS: firing pit to right wing;
flecks of stray coloured glaze to the left wing;
kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the tail feathers;
glaze miss to the underside.
RESTORATION: Retouched flakes and paint losses to beak,
egg,
tail feathers,
ground,
wings,
head,
eyes,
wattle and beak.
Nest: Generally good.
Staining and wear from use.
RESTORATION: Two stabilised and retouched hairlines to rim.
Filled chips to rim and inner rim.
