Neale Staffordshire Pearlware Apollo figure
pre-Victorian, circa 1800. 5.9ins high, 2.4ins wide, 2.2ins depth. Neale Staffordshire pearlware figure with a mythological theme which features Apollo playing the lyre, stood on a plinth base.
The piece is titled, 'Apollo' .
Multi-coloured version. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the underside.
This piece represents the Greek God of music. Book reference not found.
Condition
Good. No restoration.
Some small flakes to base,
his left hand
and robe.
A few paint losses to book.
Scratches to the reverse.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the base;
over glazed shrinkage line to the front of base; over glazed chip to the front of base.
