Staffordshire russet begging spaniel jug/pitcher
Victorian, circa 1860. 10.6ins high, 3.9ins wide, 5.9ins depth.
Staffordshire jug/pitcher which features a begging spaniel modeled with tricorn hat, floral decoration and ochre line around rim, stood directly on the ground, no base.
Russet and white version. Dull gilt embellishment.
Decorated mainly to the front.

Condition
Good. A few paint losses to paws.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: craze lines to the handle;
glaze run to the black glaze on front paws;
over glazed shrinkage line to the rim;
kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the right side.
RESTORATION. Retouched paint loss to ochre rim,
leaves, ears, eyes,
russet markings and tail.
