Pair Staffordshire cow & calf spill vases
Victorian, circa 1880. Tallest is 10.8ins high, 8.7ins wide, 4.7ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire spill vases with a pastoral theme which feature a cow with her calf beside a stream, stood on an oval base. Russet and white version. Bright gilt base line.
Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.

Condition
Right facing: Good. Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the spill;
kiln grit caught in the glaze to the cow's face.
RESTORATION: Filled chip to left ear.
Left facing: Good. A few paint losses to ground at the reverse.
Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze accumulation to the reverse;
shrinkage crack to the underside.
RESTORATION: Retouched paint losses to interior of spill.
