Pair Staffordshire Pearlware stag & doe bocage figures
pre-Victorian, circa 1820. Tallest is 4.5ins high, 3.7ins wide, 1.8ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire pearlware bocage figures which feature a stag and doe, recumbent on an oval hollow base. Multi-coloured version. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Condition
Stag: Generally good.
Small chip to right ear
and a few to bocage at reverse.
Some paint losses to the ground.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray green glaze to the stag;
shrinkage crack to right ear.
RESTORATION: remodelled branch and leaves to bocage. 60% original bocage remains.
Doe: Generally good.
Chip to bocage leaf.
Some small flakes to ears,
front left hoof
and base rim.
Some paint losses to doe.
Slight wear to nose.
KILN EFFECTS: a speck of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the lower base;
touch mark above tail
and to front left leg;
shrinkage crack to ground below doe.
RESTORATION: remodelled section to bocage (70% original bocage remains);
stabilised and retouched hairlines to front of base.
