Wood&Caldwell Staffordshire Pearlware 'Alexander' bust
pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 12.2ins high, 6.7ins wide, 4.3ins depth. Wood and Caldwell Staffordshire bust with a military theme which features Alexander I of Russia, resting on a plinth base.
The piece is titled, 'Alexander ÆT 35 Moscow Burnt Europe Preserved. 1812.'
Multi-coloured version. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Open bottomed.
This piece represents the French Invasion of Russia.

Generally good.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to his face;
touch mark to his lower lip and chin.
RESTORATION: Two filled chips to base.
Retouched paint losses to base,

sash,
hair
and the reverse.
