Pair Salt Staffordshire ram & ewe with lamb figures
pre-Victorian, circa 1830. Tallest is 6.7ins high, 4.7ins wide, 2.6ins depth. Pair of Salt Staffordshire pearlware bocage figures which feature a ram and ewe both with a lamb, stood on a shaped base. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Open bottomed.
Maker's marks Salt molded ribbon mark.

Condition
Ram: Generally good.
Small flake to the lamb's nose,
shredded clay,
leaves
and one flower.
Slight wear to the ram's nose.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln grit caught in the glaze to the base edge;
flecks of stray coloured glaze to the ram's body.
RESTORATION: Ram's left horn remodelled.
Retouched paint losses to ground
and bocage.
Ewe: Generally good.
Some small flakes to shredded clay.
Slight wear to both their noses.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the ewe
and reverse.
RESTORATION: A few remodelled leaves to bocage. 70% of bocage is original.
One branch reglued and join retouched.
Ewe's left ear remodelled.
