Pair Staffordshire russet no.4 spaniels
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 7.3ins high, 5.3ins wide, 2.4ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a spaniel, seated directly on the ground, no base.
Russet and white version. Bright gilt embellishment. Flatback, decorated only to the front.
Vent hole to the reverse.
Maker's marks no.4 molded into the underside.

Condition
CONDITION: Right facing: Generally good. No restoration.
A few paint losses to markings,
ears,
tail,
paws and muzzle.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to face
and left paw;
piece of kiln detritus caught in the glaze between the front legs;
over glazed chip to the right front paw.
Left facing: Generally good. No restoration.
Chip to tail (underside)
and right front foot.
A few paint losses to tail,
markings,
ears and muzzle.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the reverse;
over glazed bruise to the spaniel's back.
