Pair Staffordshire Black and white cow & calf figures

Victorian, circa 1880. Tallest is 5.1ins high, 6.1ins wide, 3.5ins depth.





Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a cow with her calf beside a stream, stood on an oval base. Black and white version.





Bright gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated mainly to the front. Vent hole to the underside.

Condition

CONDITION: Right facing: Good. Small chip to upper base edge at front and lower base edge at side.



Small flake to cow's left ear and hind right leg, and to calf's mouth.









Rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: kiln grit caught in the glaze to the cow's nose.



RESTORATION: left horn reglued and join retouched;



right horn remodelled.



Left facing: Good. Small chip to lower base edge at reverse.



Small flake to upper base edge at front and cow's hind left leg.





Rubbing to gilt.



RESTORATION: both horns remodelled;



stabilised and retouched hairline to calf's hind legs.
