Matched Pair Staffordshire Bactrian camels

Victorian, circa 1880. Tallest is 6.1ins high, 6.3ins wide, 2.3ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a Bactrian camel with a leather water bottle at its feet, stood on an oblong base.
We think they have possibly been matched up together at some stage because they are of significantly different colouration.



Bright gilt base line.



Flatback, decorated mainly to the front. Vent holes are present.

Condition

CONDITION: Right facing: Generally good.

Flake to camel's left eye.



A few paint losses to the ground and water bottle.





KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage line along the mold join to the first hump;





shrinkage line to the base.



RESTORATION: Filled chips to base.

















Retouched bruise to base below right hind leg.



Remodelled right front leg.





Retouched paint loss to ground







and nose.
