Pair Staffordshire stag&doe with fawns spill vases

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 11.2ins high, 7.7ins wide, 3ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire spill vases which feature a stag and doe each with a fawn, stood on a shaped base.



Multi-coloured version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment.





Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.

Condition

CONDITION: Right facing: Good.

Small shallow flake to underside of doe's front right hoof.



Very minor paint losses to doe's right side.





Slight rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to lower base edge at front.



RESTORATION: Top front section of spill vase reglued including branches the join also runs around doe's left front ear, all joins retouched.









Front right ear reglued and join retouched.



Stabilised and retouched hairline to doe's hind left leg.





Left facing: Good.

A few minor paint losses to bodies of stag and fawn.







Some rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage line to ground just under stag;



piece of kiln detritus to fawn.



RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched hairline to stag's front right leg.





Stabilised and retouched crack to underside.





Retouched paint losses to stag's left ear.
