Pair Staffordshire brown & white leg-free spaniels
Victorian, circa 1870. Tallest is 11.6ins high, 9.1ins wide, 6.7ins depth.
Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a leg free, chunky spaniel, seated directly on the ground, no base.
Unusual black patch with pink edge version. Dull gilt embellishment.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Vent hole to the underside.

Condition
Right facing: Good. Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack along the mold join;
notable crazing;
one is smaller than the other, despite our strong belief that these are an original pair.
RESTORATION: Retouched paint losses to eyes and markings.
Left facing: Good. A few paint losses to the tail.
Slight rubbing to gilt;
shrinkage crack to the spaniel's chest.

muzzle and markings.
