Pair Staffordshire spaniel spill vases
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 13.2ins high, 7.9ins wide, 3.7ins depth.
Pair of Staffordshire spill vases which feature a spaniel, seated on an oval base.
White and gilt version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment.
Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.

Condition
Right facing: Good. Slight rubbing to gilt.
Slight wear to the reverse.
KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing;
a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the spaniel's chest and legs;
glaze pops to the muzzle.
RESTORATION. Retouched paint losses to muzzle and spill.
Left facing: Generally good. Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the spaniel;
a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the spaniel's chest and legs;
notable crazing;
glaze pops to the muzzle.
RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched crack running from the front of base up and over onto the reverse finishing below the spill.
Retouched paint losses to muzzle and spill.
