Staffordshire Black&White spaniel pitcher
Victorian, circa 1860. 10.7ins high, 4.5ins wide, 5.5ins depth. Staffordshire jug/pitcher which features a begging spaniel modelled with tricorn hat, floral decoration and ochre line around rim, stood directly on the ground, no base. Black and white version. Dull gilt embellishment.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Condition
Good.
Two bruises to the handle, one with associated chip.
Scratches to the handle
and spaniel.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the handle;
flecks of stray coloured glaze to the front.
RESTORATION: Stabilised and retouched hairline above right ear.
Filled chip to tail and base edge, near tail.
Retouched paint loss to eyes
and ochre rim.
