Staffordshire Fox & Bird spill vase
Victorian, circa 1860. 10ins high, 7.1ins wide, 2.4ins depth.
Staffordshire spill vase which features a fox carrying a bird, stood on an oval base.
Multi-coloured version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment.
Decorated mainly to the front.

Condition
Generally good. Two small flakes to tip of one leaf.
Paint loss to one of the flowers.
Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the front of the base;
slight staining to the reverse;
a few specks of kiln grit caught in the glaze to the bird and fox.
RESTORATION. Spill reglued and join retouched.
Stabilised and retouched hairline to spill.
Retouched paint losses to ground, fox's head at reverse and his nose.
Fox's right ear remodelled.
Filled and retouched chip to left ear.
