Staffordshire sailor & lass figure
Victorian, circa 1860. 9.4ins high, 5.1ins wide, 2.4ins depth.
Staffordshire figure with a maritime theme which features a sailor and his lass, stood on a shaped base.
Multi-coloured with underglaze blue version. Dull gilt embellishment.
Flatback, decorated mainly to the front. Vent hole to the reverse.
Book reference not found.
Condition
Good. A few paint losses to green on her skirt and to ground.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the front and reverse;
piece of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to his nose;
over glazed shrinkage line to his neck.
RESTORATION: Shoes, hair, beard and his jumper retouched.
