Victorian, circa 1840. 9.8ins high, 9.1ins wide, 7.5ins depth. Alcock Staffordshire pastille burner which features a castle with three turrets, stood on a shaped base.
White and gilt version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Maker's marks to the underside.

CONDITION: Good.
Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage cracks to turret interiors,
sections of shredded clay and underside;
a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze;
over glazed star hairline to front of one turret.
RESTORATION: one merlon above front door reglued and join retouched.
Stabilised and retouched hairline to wall.
Stabilised and retouched crack to right hand side of the base.
