pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 6.4ins high, 2.2ins wide, 2.2ins depth. Staffordshire pearlware figure embematic of water which features a fisherwoman holding fish in the folds of her skirt, stood on a square base.



Multi-coloured version.



Double base line painted in black.



Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.



Vent hole to the underside.



Book reference not found. Companion figures emblemaic of Earth, Air and fire were also produced, believed to have been sold individually rather than as a set.

Condition

Good. No restoration.

Some small flakes to the lower base edge,





hat and left thumb.





Some paint losses to the upper base line,







grassy mound and skirt.











KILN EFFECTS: small firing hole to left arm;



a few specks of kiln soot caught in the glaze;





over glazed chip to the shell.
