Pair Staffordshire Poodle & pups on cobalt base
Victorian, circa 1870. Tallest is 5.9ins high, 4.8ins wide, 2.4ins depth.
Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a poodle with pups, resting on a cobalt blue base.
We think they have possibly been matched up together at some stage because they have different eyes.
Dull gilt base line and embellishment.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Vent hole to the underside.

Condition
Right facing: Good. Some flakes to shredded clay on coats.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze pops to the base;
kiln soot caught in the glaze to two of the poodles;
flecks of stray coloured glaze to the reverse.
RESTORATION: Retouched paint losses to eyes and noses.
Left facing: Good. Some flakes to shredded clay on coats.
Rubbing to gilt.
Slight wear and scratches to base.
KILN EFFECTS: piece of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the base.
