Pair Staffordshire Highlander musicians

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 10.8ins high, 4.6ins wide, 2.6ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures with a musical theme which feature a couple in Highland dress, he with a set of bag pipes, she with a tambourine, stood on an oblong base. Multi-coloured version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment.









Flatback, decorated only to the front.

Condition

Male: Good. No restoration. Some paint losses to his scarf and shoe, and the grapes.







Some rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to the base;



shrinkage crack between the vase and man.



Female: Good. No restoration. Bruise to the tambourine.



Some paint losses to the leaves.



KILN EFFECTS: fleck of stray coloured glaze to the reverse;



over glazed shrinkage line to the column, her apron and under her arm.
