Pair Staffordshire Pearlware hunter figures

pre-Victorian, circa 1820. Tallest is 7.5ins high, 3.1ins wide, 2.8ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire pearlware figures with a hunting theme which feature a hunter and a female archer, stood on a plinth base. We think they have possibly been matched up together at some stage because they have significantly different base characteristics.



Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.



Vent holes to the underside. Maker's marks to the underside of one.



Book reference not found.

Condition

Male: Generally good.

Some small flakes to hunter's left arm



and right hand



and dog's right ear.



KILN EFFECTS: glaze pops to the hunter's jacket;



shrinkage crack to hunter's left shoulder.



RESTORATION: Barrel of gun



and dog's tail remodelled.





Right front leg and head of dog reattached.





Retouched paint losses to hat.



Stabilised and retouched hairline around the base.









Filled chips to corners of base.







Female: Tiny flakes to nose and collar of dress;



shrinkage crack to the left side of her dress;



over glazed chips to lower base edge.



RESTORATION. Filled and retouced chips to two of the base corners.





Filled chips to the brim of her hat,





tip of her bow



and quiver



her neck reattached and join retouched.
