Staffordshire Pearlware Venus figure
pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 10.2ins high, 3.5ins wide, 3.5ins depth. Staffordshire pearlware figure with a mythological theme which features a lady holding a dove, stood on a square base. Multi-coloured version.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Vent hole to the underside.
This piece represents the Roman goddess Venus.

Good.
A few paint losses to her belt;
flakes to lower base edge.
KILN EFFECTS: over glazed shrinkage lines to the reverse;
flecks of stray coloured glaze to her face,
dress,
reverse
and left foot.
RESTORATION: Retouched paint losses to the bird,
base,
dress
and ground.
