Victorian, circa 1860. 14.2ins high, 8.3ins wide, 3.9ins depth.

Staffordshire figure with a pastoral theme which features a young couple with wheat, seated on an oval base.







Multi-coloured version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated mainly to the front.





Book reference not found.

Condition

Generally good. A few paint losses to wheat.




Some rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the front of the base;


flecks of stray coloured glaze to the front;




kiln soot caught in the glaze to his jacket;



shrinkage crack to man's back.


RESTORATION: their shoes and man's hair have been retouched.
