
Victorian, dated 1843. 15.75ins by 12.5ins wide. 1843 Beadwork Sampler by G A Bennett. Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass.
Fixed to linen with wood backing.
The sampler is worked in silk and coloured beads on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.
Meandering floral border.
Colours green, red, copper, gold, black, cream and blue. Signed and dated 'G A Bennet February 11th 1843'.
A good set of motifs, some finely detailed, including windmills,
bee hives,
dogs,
flowers, potted flowering plants,
fruit baskets,
hearts, thistles, a church,
a couple stood either side of a castle
and fleurs de lis.
CONDITION: Good. A few holes.
No stains other than slight uniform age darkening of the ground.
No stitch losses. Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Unevenly stretched.
Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
