Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.
Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.
Meandering floral border.
Colours gold, cream, browns and greens.
Verse reads
'Dear parents accept of my effort tho feeble
To shew you the progrefs Ive made with my needle
Of all faults that you see let my youth plead excuse
Ill endeavour to mend in the next I produce'.
Signed and dated
'Ann Norgrove Aged 10 Years December 20 1839'.
A good set of motifs, including a house with a garden,
potted flowering plants,
fir trees,
dogs,
flower basket
and birds.
CONDITION: Generally Good.
A few holes.
A few patchy stains.
Minor stitch losses to the house motif.
Colours are slightly faded but still well defined.
Colour run around some of the green threads.
Stretching is very slightly uneven.
Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
