1736 Lords Prayer Sampler by Alice Wood

George II, dated 1736. 15.5ins by 7.75ins wide. 1736 Sampler by Alice Wood. Framed in a modern wood frame with glass.

Fixed to card with cardboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.

Colours greens, red, purple and cream.

'Alice Wood ended this work in the 9th year of her Age 1736'.

A scattering of motifs, including crowns, hearts

and diamond shapes.

CONDITION: Generally Good.

Three small holes.

Some patchy staining and a few dark stain specks.

Very minor stitch losses to the divider lines,

verses and signature.

Colours are slightly faded but still well defined. No colour run.

Unevenly stretched.

Frame showing some wear, otherwise sound.
