William IV, dated 1832. 15.25ins by 15.25ins wide. 1832 Woolwork Sampler by Sarah Linskill.

Framed in a modern wood frame with glass. Stitched over linen with board backing.

The sampler is worked in wool on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.

Meandering strawberry border.

Colours red, cream, yellow, pale blue, light brown, orange, greens and pink. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case, numbers 1-11 and family initials.

Inscription reads

'Fear and love God all Thy days'.

Signed and dated 'Sarah Linskill Work Finished In 1832 Aged 9'.

A scattering of motifs, including flowers, birds,

hearts,

potted flowering plants

and diamonds.

CONDITION: Good. One hole.

No stains. Some stitch losses to the border, divider lines, letters of the alphabet and signature.

Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven.

Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
