1825 Stag Motif Sampler by Ann Banham

George IV, dated 1825. 11.5ins high by 11ins wide. 1825 Stag Motif Sampler by Ann Banham. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.

Meandering floral border.

Colours dark green, cream, dark brown, gold, blue and copper.

Verse reads

' The Lofs of Man is Much

The Lofs of time is more

The Lofs of Christ is such a Lofs

That no Man can reftore'.

Signed and dated

'Ann Banham Aged 9 Years 1825'.

A good set of motifs, including a stag,

a bird,

flowers,

potted flowering plants,

a fruit basket,

fir trees,

hearts and dogs.

CONDITION: Generally Good.

A number of holes and thinning to the ground.

A few patchy stains and age darkening to the ground.

Some stitch losses mainly to the holed areas.

Colours are slightly faded but still well defined.

Very slight colour run around some of the green threads.

Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
