1799 Lord's Prayer Sampler by Sarah Norris. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.
Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.
No border. Colours gold, cream, red, copper, black, pink, blues and greens.

A scattering of finely worked floral motifs, one of which features two peacock feathers.
CONDITION: Generally Good. A number of holes, and losses mainly to the edge of the linen.
A number of small stains to old tack holes at the bottom of the sampler.
Uniform age darkening of backing canvas.
Some stitch losses to the motifs, the prayer and the verse.
Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run.
Stretching is very slightly uneven.
Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
