Verse entitled
'THE CHRISTIANs CONFIDENCE'
reads
'GREAT Author of good to thee would I fly
When clouds gather blacknefs portending a ftorm
Be thou my protection and shield me from harm
From what thou haft done in years that are fled
What blefsing thy love upon me hath fled
O help me to trust thee nor dubt of thy care
When dangers furround me thy love will be there
Should forrow and pain and poverty join
Should friends turn away and with foes fhould combine
Wei fure of thy favours my covenant God
Id trust in thy goodnefs and bow to thy rod
Should mortal disease bring death to my view
And should I be cast'd the dark vale to go through
Its gloom and its shadows shall all disappear
My Father my Guardian my God will be there
My spirit emerg'd from this dwelling of clay
With pleasures untold fhall wing its glad way
And take full pofsefsion of that glorious throne
And call all the treasures of heaven my own
My own through the purchase of Jesus blood
My own through the mercy and goodnefs of God'.
