
George III, dated 1783. 15ins high by 12ins wide. 1783 Sampler by Mary Rowley.
Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.
Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in wool and silk on canvas ground, in cross stitch and Algerian eye.
Divider lines in various patterns.
Colours pink, cream, yellow, gold, black, greens and pale blue. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-10.
Signed and dated 'Mary Rowley Her Work Aged 10 1783'.
A good set of motifs, including two ladies and two gentleman, birds, trees and flowers.
CONDITION: Good. One hole and slight pulling to the ground next to one of the bird motifs.
No stains. Some stitch losses to the divider lines and the numbers.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.
Very slight colour run around some of the green threads.
Stretching is slightly uneven.
Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
