Wedgwood Majolica caterer pitcher

Victorian, circa 1870. 6.9ins high, 5.5ins wide, 3.7ins depth. Wedgwood Majolica jug/pitcher which features sides molded with cabochon collars and text
'WHAT THO MY GATES BE POOR, TAKE THEM IN GOOD PART, BETTER CHEER MAY YOU HAVE, BUT NOT WITH BETTER HEART'.



Colouration: brown, ochre, cobalt blue, are predominant.











The piece bears maker's marks for the Wedgwood pottery. Bears a pattern number, '674'. English diamond registration mark for the date 05/06/??.
Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1870.

CONDITION: Generally good.

Tight hairline through one lid hole.





Slight wear to the handle.



Wear to the high points of the molding.







RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched crack to top handle join.
