Majolica Palissy snake & toad plate

Victorian, circa 1890. 2.6ins high, 9.6ins wide, 9.6ins depth. Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a snake, toad, frog, lizard and two moths.



Colouration: green, brown, ochre, are predominant.

CONDITION: Good. No restoration.

Two chips to foot rim.





Small chips and flakes to moths' wings.







Two missing toes to frog's front left foot.



Small flake to toad's left eye,



and lizard's left front foot.



Some flakes to the rim.









KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the toad's back leg.
