Majolica Palissy fish supporting Nautilus shell vase
Victorian, circa 1890. 10.4ins high, 5.9ins wide, 5.1ins depth. Portuguese Palissy Majolica vase which features a small lizard and snake resting on a nautilus shell,
which is supported by three fish.
Colouration: green, grey, blue, are predominant.

Condition
CONDITION: Generally good.
Three small chips to the underside.
Flaking to the shredded clay and around the lower base edge.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the shell;
shrinkage cracks to the lower base edge,
underside
and lizard's body.
RESTORATION: filled chip to the lower base edge;
two fish head fins and one fish side fin reglued
and joins retouched.
Restoration work is old.
