Majolica Palissy snake & bird nest wall pocket

Victorian, circa 1890. 8.3ins high, 4.5ins wide, 2.8ins depth. Majolica wall pocket which features a snake coiled around a birds nest.









Colouration: green, brown, grey, are predominant.

Condition

CONDITION: Good. Some small flakes to the shredded clay and fern tips.









Some wear to reverse.



KILN EFFECTS: kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the leaf and inside the nest.







RESTORATION: Stabilised and retouched crack to top and bottom of fern.









Filled chips to fern tips.
