Mafra Majolica Palissy fish & eel plate

Victorian, circa 1890. 9.3ins high, 9.3ins wide, 2.6ins depth. Mafra Portuguese Palissy Majolica plate which features four fish and an eel. Colouration: ochre, green, brown, are predominant.





The piece bears maker's marks for the Mafra pottery. Bears a pattern number, '6'.

Condition

CONDITION: Good. Chips and flaking to rim, shredded clay, two of the fish's mouths, one of the fish's backs and the eel's mouth and back fin.





















Some wear to the fish and eel's back.









RESTORATION: Old restoration to two foot rim chips and a 3.5ins (9cm) section under the rim.
