Small Majolica Palissy snake & lizard wall plate

Victorian, circa 1890. 5.6ins high, 5.6ins wide, 1.5ins depth. Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a snake, lizard and grub.

Colouration: green, grey, brown, are predominant.

Condition

CONDITION: Good. No restoration. Two small chips to shredded clay ground to the rim.

Chips to three of lizard's claws.

Some small flakes to the shredded clay ground, lizard's eyes and to the rim.

KILN EFFECTS: kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the lizard's back.
