Small Cuhna Majolica Palissy fish plate

Victorian, circa 1890. 4.8ins high, 4.8ins wide, 1.7ins depth. Cunha Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features five overlying fish. Colouration: blue, green, brown, are predominant.



T he piece bears maker's marks for the Cunha pottery.

CONDITION: Good. Chips associated with stilt marks to the foot rim.







Flake to one fish.



KILN EFFECTS: kiln detritus caught in the glaze to one fish and under rim;





over glazed chips to three fishes tail fins;





small over glazed shrinkage crack to rim.



RESTORATION: Filled chip to rim.
