Brownfield Majolica kittens vase

Victorian, circa 1870. 11.2ins high, 10.6ins wide, 7.5ins depth. Brownfield Majolica vase which features two kittens playing with a vase, stood on a blanket. Colouration: ochre, green, cobalt blue, are predominant.











The piece bears maker's marks for the Brownfield pottery. Bears a pattern number, '109'.

Good.

KILN EFFECTS: glaze misses to the grey cat





and cobalt cloth;



shrinkage cracks to the reverse running through yellow tassels;







a few specks of kiln grit caught in the glaze to the ground;



cloudiness to the dark green glaze on the vase.





RESTORATION: Filled chip to inside of rim.





Retouched flakes to grey cat's ears









and ochre feet.
