Victorian, circa 1870. 7.5ins high, 7.6ins wide, 12.2ins depth. Holdcroft Majolica game pie dish which features a fox holding a goose down amongst ferns.
Colouration: cobalt blue, green, brown, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Holdcroft pottery. Bears a pattern number, '8'.

Condition
CONDITION: Cover: Generally good. Flake to under rim.
KILN EFFECTS: over glazed shrinkage lines to ground next to goose's wings;
a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the ground.
RESTORATION: Section of rim reglued and join retouched:
Left ear remodelled.
Filled chip to right ear.
Retouched flake to fox's nose.
Dish: Good. KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the interior;
kiln grit caught in the glaze to one handle and rim above.
RESTORATION: Retouched flakes to both feet, holly leaves and lower base rim near one foot.
