Majolica Dolphin with shell posy vase

Victorian, circa 1880. 7.9ins high, 4.8ins wide, 3.3ins depth. Majolica posy holder which features a dolphin holding a shell with it's tail fin. Colouration: lilac, green, pink, are predominant.

Condition

Good. Tiny flake to base.



KILN EFFECTS: a few touch marks around the lower base edge and to dolphin's head;







a few tiny firing pits to ground, dolphin and shell;









piece of kiln detritus caught inside causing piece to rattle. RESTORATION: retouched flakes to points and rim of shell; shell rim section reglued and join retouched.
