Victorian, circa 1890. 9.6ins high, 9.6ins wide, 2.4ins depth.
Cunha Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a large, unusual insect, lizards, moths and grubs.
Colouration: green, brown, ochre, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Cunha pottery.

Condition
Fair. Flaking to shredded clay.
Flake to the foot rim.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage cracks to large lizard's front right foot;
kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the insect and both lizards.
RESTORATION: remodelled legs and antennae to insect,
head to small lizard and right wing to one moth;
remodelled tail tips to both lizards and the worm;
retouched flakes to shredded clay.
