Victorian, circa 1880. 16.9ins high, 13.5ins wide, 13.5ins depth.

Holdcroft Majolica jardinière which features mythical winged maidens and bird decorated oval panels.



Turquoise ground version.



Colouration: turquoise, cobalt blue, green, are predominant.

Condition

Generally good. Flaking to two birds,





two ladies headdresses and belts,









rim,





upper base and ribbons.









Light scratches to the upper base.



KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to interior;





shrinkage cracks to the green leafy rim;





uneven glaze application to the ribbons;





glaze run to the green, cobalt blue and turquoise glazes.











RESTORATION: stabilised and retouched crack to one lady's body and one to the rim;





filled chip and stabilised and retouched cracks to interior;





both wing tips to two ladies,









and one hoof foot reglued and joins retouched;



retouching to flakes.
