Forester Majolica chestnut Tête-a-tête tea set

Victorian, circa 1880. 6.3ins high, 14.6ins wide, 11.8ins depth.






Forester Majolica tea set which features a tray, two cups with saucers, a milk jug, a sugar bowl and a teapot, all with chestnut decoration.



Cobalt blue ground version. Colouration: cobalt blue, green, ochre, are predominant.

CONDITION: Tray: Good. No restoration.





Tight hairline to the underside.



Scratches from use to the interior.







Teapot: Generally good.





Flakes to the finial, chips and flakes to the spout.





Kiln effects: Glaze pops to the spout.



Restoration: Retouched flakes to the rim of the lid.



Creamer: Generally good.



Staining from use.



Kiln effects: Glaze pops to the exterior.





Restoration: Retouched flakes to the handle and spout.





Sugar pot: Generally good.





Flake to finial.



Restoration: Remodelled missing handles and section of rim to the lid.









Filled chips to the rim of pot.





Retouched flakes to rim of lid.



Cups: Generally good.



Staining from use.





Kiln effects: Flecks of stray coloured glaze to the interior.



Specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the exterior.





Restoration: Stabilised and retouched hairlines to rim on both.





Remodelled section to rim of one.



Saucers: Good.



No restoration. Small flakes to the rim.

Kiln effects: Flecks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the interior.
