George Jones Majolica castle cheese dome & stand

Victorian, circa 1873. 5.1ins high, 9.1ins wide, 9.1ins depth. George Jones Majolica cheese keep which features a castle tower with flag finial and a brick effect exterior.









Colouration: green, brown, grey, are predominant.







Bears a pattern number, '3341'. English diamond registration mark for the date 25/08/1873.

Condition

CONDITION: Cover: Generally good. KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the exterior;





slight glaze run to the green glaze.





RESTORATION: Remodelled crenellation.



Stabilised and retouched crack to the side.





Filled chips to the foot rim and one crenellation.





Retouched flakes to finial.



Base: Good. Some small flakes to the exterior.





Staining from use;







a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the interior.





RESTORATION. Filled chip to rim.
