Brownfield Majolica fish teapot

Victorian, circa 1880. 5.3ins high, 7.3ins wide, 5.5ins depth. Brownfield Majolica teapot which features a fish leaping out of the sea. Colouration: turquoise, green, lilac, are predominant.













The piece bears maker's marks for the Brownfield pottery. Bears a pattern number, '165A'.

Teapot: Good.

Slight wear below fish's left eye.



KILN EFFECTS: kiln grit caught in the glaze to the fish's body.



RESTORATION: remodelled end of spout;





filled chip to right side fin;





retouched flake to left eye.



Cover: Good.

KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the flange;



small firing hole to flange.



RESTORATION: retouched flakes to rim.
