Majolica Palissy snake & bird nest wall pocket

Victorian, circa 1890. 8.3ins high, 4.4ins wide, 2.5ins depth. Majolica wall pocket which features a snake coiled around a birds nest.









Colouration: green, brown, grey, are predominant.

Condition

CONDITION: Generally good. Some small flakes to the shredded clay.





KILN EFFECTS: a few over glazed shrinkage lines to the leaves;





a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the fern, snake and nest.









RESTORATION: section to snake reglued and joins retouched;



retouched flakes to snake's head, rim and fern.
