Mafra Majolica Palissy monkey candlestick

Victorian, circa 1890. 6.1ins high, 3.5ins wide, 3.5ins depth. Mafra Portuguese Palissy Majolica candlestick holder which features a monkey climbing a tree.





Colouration: grey, ochre, green, are predominant.





The piece bears maker's marks for the Mafra pottery.

Condition

CONDITION: Good. Small flake to end of monkey's tail and to rim.







RESTORATION: Filled chips to base edge.







Retouched flakes to right ear and both eyebrows.
